Join us for a special screening of the documentary In Their Hands on Tuesday, February 4th, at 6:00 PM at the Hoogland Center for the Arts in Springfield.
This 74-minute film will be followed by a thoughtful discussion and Q&A session.
In Their Hands, produced and directed by Dan Protess, examines the story of Ronnie Carrasquillo, who has spent 47 years in prison after the tragic death of a plainclothes police officer. The film delves into the complex process before the Prisoner Review Board, highlighting the broader questions of justice, rehabilitation, and public safety that underlie parole decisions. Through Ronnie’s case, the documentary provides an opportunity to reflect on how decisions about second chances are made and their impact on individuals, families, and communities.
This bipartisan event aims to foster dialogue about criminal justice, accountability, and the parole process, topics relevant to policymakers across the spectrum.
The screening is free. Tickets are going fast.
