This event is presented by Illinois Humanities grantee partner Madison COunty Historical Society.
The Madison County Historical Society invites you to take a guided stroll through Edwardsville’s Leclaire National Historic District.
Along the way, you will meet Leclaire founder, N. O. Nelson, as well as his daughter, Julia Lawnin, bathtub maker Fred Merkle, schoolteacher Mildred Shaw, housewife Emma Sehnert, cabinetmaker Charles Vollentine, and junk dealer Frank Mack. All will share stories of their lives in Leclair during the 1920s.
