This event is presented by Illinois Humanities grantee partner Definition Theatre Company.
The 2024 Amplify New Play Festival by Definition Theatre is a community celebration at the Logan Center for the Arts in Hyde Park highlighting South/Westside BIPOC playwrights. The month-long festival culminates in a two-day event with film screenings, introductory artist classes, readings from past Amplify artists, winners, and more!
Readings, workshops, and film screenings range from $5-10.

Festival Activities
Amplify Series Four Film Screenings
Experience the eight filmed Series Four finalist pieces and interviews with the playwrights up on the big screen.
Amplify Series Three Winner Live Readings
Experience live readings from the winners of 2023’s Amplify Series Three. These pieces are in their first year of development with Definition. Readings are an informal way to gauge audience feedback on the continually evolving piece.

The 101 Series
Take part in a series of introductory workshops led by local industry professionals. Advanced registration is required. Workshops are intended for a wide audience. However, ages 14 and up are encouraged.

- Dance/Movement 101 Instructed by Sadira Muhammad: July 20 | 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
