Pastor Tony Lowden
Pastor Tony Lowden

Pastor Tony Lowden is the former pastor of Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, where his congregation includes former President Jimmy Carter, and he is a chaplain for the Secret Service in Southwest Georgia.  

Pastor Lowden was appointed by the White House in 2020 as Executive Director of the Federal Interagency Council on Crime Prevention and Improving Reentry in 2020. He was appointed by Governor Nathan Deal in 2012 to the State Charter School Commissioner.  

After serving as project coordinator for the Justice Reinvestment Initiative, Lowden served as the Director of Faith and Justice Initiative for the Governor’s Office of Transition Support and Reentry.
